Run Away To The City
An elopement shoot. In our home city. It did not disappoint.
When photographer, Megan Donati, approached us to collaborate on an elopement photoshoot in Bath, we jumped at the chance. Organised by herself and Wildwood Weddings And Events, the shoot dubbed ‘Run Away To The City’ portrays a modern day city elopement showcasing famous landmarks around Bath. The shoot had an eclectic, bohemian style with strong retro elements.
"So much went into this shoot from planning, logistics and the weather wasn’t on our side but together with an incredible team we had the most amazing time creating some magic!” - Megan Donati
The Elwood 3-Piece Suit was the perfect fit. Neutral toned houndstooth check on cream makes an impression. It is an incredibly adaptable suit that can be styled in a world of ways, from formal and relaxed boho to specific decade themes.
Our groom wore the suit with SUAVE OWL White Shirt and Van Buck Ivory Tie. Consistent cream colours throughout the outfit made for a distinctive look and the simple complimentary pieces tied together the outfit well. The groom looking not only at his best, but like the leading man he was.
The groom's wear undoubtedly complimented the brides ensemble. Opting to replace a traditional veil, she wore an intricately hand-beaded ivory satin knotted headband (Ness Bridal and The Lucky Sixpence) together with a stunning jumpsuit by Love Spell Bridal Shop. The laced body drew out into a train. The result: a classic silhouette with a modern, yet vintage, twist.
Understated makeup, by Rose Forrest HMUA, fitted perfectly, given the natural beauty of the bride and the City of Bath.
"It's effortless, with a touch of glam." - Rose Forrest HMUA
Throughout the day, the bride and groom were photographed enjoying the historic sites and hidden gems of Bath. Bath’s buildings are famous for their striking appearance. The cream and ivory hues in both outfits paired fantastically with a background full of iconic Bath stone, making for some stunning images.
Bath has an aura of timelessness. This shoot used that to play with the presence of the contemporary and the classic, with different aspects coming together to make an original style, full of character and charm, that worked perfectly with such a gorgeous backdrop.
The ceremony venue of the Guildhall is quintessential Bath. Our shop is only five minutes away. We often see weddings outside and it is even better when the groom is wearing familiar attire!
There are so many iconic Bath locations ready to be utilised for wedding photography. This shoot used The Circus, The Crescent, and Pulteney Weir.
The pictures at the Crescent were particularly fun. Taking the eclectic mix of classical and retro further, the Georgian landmark was photographed with the couple driving a VW Beetle away from their elopement and into the sunset.
"We wanted to create a classic, romantic and fun city elopement inspired by classic romantic films to inspire couples that you can have an incredible wedding with just the two of you. I was inspired by vintage weddings and films where a couple gets whisked away in a vintage car after their wedding-ready to start their new lives together." - Megan & Tiana - Shoot Organisers
This car was provided by The Boho Bug. It is a refurbished 1973 Volkswagen Beetle in limited edition metallic moss green available for hire for transport on wedding days and styled shoots. The refurbishment has embraced the car's original design, but also introduced newer features. The shiny silver shows no hint of 49 years of age.
The Boho Bug was an excellent bohemian finishing touch to this stunning wedding photoshoot in Bath.
The extra touches from the organisers and all of the collaborators resulted in something original. It comes together to feel just right and every individual aspect feels complimentary to the rest. We are so pleased that we could contribute!
Pulling together all of the finer details of such a big event can be daunting. At SUAVE OWL, we are dedicated to helping couples find what is right for them.
