Aintree Races 2019 - Style Guide for Men!

If there’s one day in the racing calendar which everyone looks out for, it’s the Grand National. The race at Aintree is the jewel in the horse racing crown, even if you’re not a racing fan, it’s tradition to have a bet every April.

This year the "most talked about, most celebrated, most magical races in the world" take place Thursday 4 - Saturday 6 April. That's not long to get your outfits sorted gents! But fear not, our style tips and suggestions (and next day delivery) can have you dressed to impress in no time at all!

There is no formal dress code at the Grand National at Aintree, but sports clothing and fancy dress is not permitted. The style stakes may infact be even higher than the racing stakes at this prestigious meet which presents the perfect opportunity for gentlemen to showcase their personal style. The televised event means that all eyes could be on you, so it’s important to look your best. We know the ladies will be on their game, so let's not let the sartorial side down.

So, what to wear...?

You should be thinking along the lines of one of our well fitted suits. At a minimum a smart shirt, blazer and tie.

One of our many trendy three piece suits is bang on the money to mark you out as a gentleman of style. Be as bold or subtle as you want with anything from a simple plain colour herringbone to a multi-tonal checked pattern.

We have a multitude of colours from light blues and navy's to wine, olive, grey's and tan. And why stick to one colour? Be at the top of your suit game by swapping in a contrasting or complimentary waistcoat.

There's no reason at all why you can't style a little less formal and yet keep your look sharp.  The much more favourable way to dress for many gentlemen is by mixing it up a little. Wearing your suit jacket and waistcoat with a well pressed slim-fitting pair of chinos, or indeed jeans (but do tread carefully), is the fashion forward way to go!

To finish off your effortlessly stylish race day outfit you absolutely must don footwear to fit. A simple Oxford or Brogue style shoe or boot can never fail you. And it's easy to not compromise on comfort with our fantastic collection.

Stick with Suave Owl and you'll pick a winner every time!

Style tips:

Take care to ensure the waistcoat is as well fitted as your suit and that you always leave the last button undone.

Be sure to compliment the suit/blazer and personalise your look with tie/bow tie and pocket square.

Don't let the cold compromise your style. Layer up with a thin thermal underlayer which nobody will ever see!
